A used car dealer from Essex has been recognised by Amazon and the Confederation of British Industry as one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the UK.
33-year-old Adam Stott, who owns the car dealership Big Cars, is the only person from the automotive industry to be shortlisted for the Entrepreneur of the Year award, part of Amazon’s Growing Business Awards.
In the space of just eight years Stott has grown his used car firm into a £40 million turnover business selling 3,000 cars a year and employing 75 people. Big Cars operates from five sites in Essex and Surrey and has plans to open another in Sudbury, Suffolk.
Stott’s success might see more buyers entering his dealerships on the hunt for more cars. If you’re considering expanding, you need to ensure you are properly insured. Check that your motor trade insurance provides adequate cover for both the volume and value of the vehicles you have in stock.
The company’s innovative use of social media has played a key role in the rapid growth of Big Cars, which has over 350,000 followers on Facebook, so far generating sales in excess of £50 million.
Stott said: “I’m very proud to have been included in such a distinguished list of entrepreneurs by such a well known name in global enterprise.
“Big Cars is first and foremost a customer service business that happens to sell cars and it continues to go from strength to strength thanks to the hard work of all the team.
“It will be another record-breaking year for the company so this recognition is a really nice Christmas bonus. We expect 2017 to be even bigger.”
