Local charity receives grant via Bollington for community choir project
Bollington Insurance is pleased to announce that we recently handed over a cheque for £2,500 to Just Drop-In Centre in Macclesfield.
The funding has come via charity insurer Ecclesiastical, whose ‘Closer to You’ programme is designed to offer insurance brokers the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive support for project work.
Just Drop-In originally opened in 2001 and offers a free counselling service for everyone between the ages of 12 and 25. They deliver services to a range of younger people, including a pilot counselling service at Tytherington High School in Macclesfield, friendship groups, a kitchen for younger people to learn how to cook and carry out duties for independent living (including budgeting), and more.
The contribution from Bollington has been used to run a community choir who meet each Friday evening. The choirmaster/guitarist travels each week to lead the event - and they even have plans to sing in a cathedral this year, too!
"Funding is really important"
Ann Wright, Chief Officer of the Just Drop-In Centre, said: “We are a relatively small charity with a lot of demand on our services, so to receive financial support for this project is fantastic.
“We would really like to thank Bollington Insurance and Ecclesiastical for supporting us in this way. There is a great atmosphere when the choir meet each week, and this funding is really important in keeping this going for us.”
Gareth Houghton, Care Team Manager at Bollington, said: “We are really pleased to support the valuable work of Just Drop-In Centre in Macclesfield, and would like to thank Ecclesiastical for their financial backing.
“This is a great local charity that works hard to improve the lives of younger people, so it is really positive news that the contribution keeps this choir going.”
